Kent Parks Open Gym at Meridian Middle School

The program is free to students attending Meridian Middle School but pre-registration is required. Space is limited and registration is required to attend. Participants must have a completed and signed by parent registration form on file before teens can participate. For more information call (253)856-5030.

Just download our fillable registration form . After completing the form save a copy to your computer
then email it as an attachment to ARYT@KentWa.gov

You can also bring your completed registration form to the main office at Meridian Middle School or
bring it with you to the program.

Holiday Camp

Holiday Camp - Grades K - 5

Students in grades K-5 are invited to sign up for a fun, winter-themed camp! Program takes place the first week of Kent School District’s winter break. Campers will enjoy a variety of creative crafts and team-building group games throughout the week. Plus, we’ll enjoy a pajama-themed day where we’ll watch a movie! Register your child as soon as possible – spots fill quickly! Holiday Camp has a maximum of 24 participants. Campers must bring a morning snack and sack lunch. An afternoon snack is provided. Through a partnership with community agencies, this program is offered at Meeker, Meridian and Mill Creek Middle Schools. Student must attend their respective schools to attend.

We offer two programs at Meridian Middle School.

Cooking Club - Held on Mondays from September 16 through May 19. Learn how to plan and prepare healthy foods from a variety of different cultures. This program is co-ed. No experience is required, all skill levels are welcome!

Open Gym - Consists of pick-up games of basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, kickball, and other non-traditional sports.

The program is free. Students must register for Meridian through Kent Parks. For more information call (253) 856-5030.

At Meeker and Mill Creek the registration is at the school. More information on the program can be found in the schools main office.

Each location has its own activities, classes and special events.

The goals of the program

To provide positive after school activities and a safe, structured and supervised environment for middle school students.
This program is perfect for students not involved in school sports or school activities, or between sports and programs their school offers.

This elementary school program is for students in grades K-5, to promote active lifestyles while encouraging healthy eating and cooking choices. We offer a variety of HIGH ENERGY activities that will get your child up and active, while having a ton of fun! Best of all, it's FREE! Space is limited and registration is required. REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO ONE SCHOOL PER CHILD. Prior to your child participating, there must be a completed, signed registration form on file with Kent Parks.

*Do not turn registration forms into the schools, they must be turned into the Kent Commons.*

There is no program on conference days, school holidays, school late start or cancellation days.

Kent Parks is proud to partner with PSESD (Puget Sound Education Service District) to offer after school programs at Mill Creek Middle School, East Hill, Springbrook, Nelly O'Brien and River Ridge Elementary Schools. Each location has its own activities and special events that keep youth/teens engaged, active and healthy. These partner programs are free but pre-registration is required. Contact the schools directly to register.

Recreation

Below you will find a brief introduction to some of the classes that we offer for youth. You can find more detailed information about classes in our current program guide.

Pre-school Age Classes

For those who are not yet in school we offer a variety of day time activities from our drop-in Indoor Park Program to more structured classes. Your toddler will enjoy such classes as Parent/Tot Tumbling, Teeny Weeny Wigglers, Martial Arts, Wiggles & Giggles, Gymnastics and dance. Class days/times/prices vary.

Dance Classes

We offer a wide variety of dance classes for ages 3-18; ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, Irish soft and hard shoe. Class days/times/prices vary.

We offer two dance recitals per year, they are optional and due require additional fees. Our Spring Dance Recital is held in June and is open to dance students who register for both winter and spring dance sessions. Our Holiday Dance Recital is held in December and is open to dance students who register for fall dance classes.

Music & Voice Classes

One-on-one lessons are offered in piano and voice. These classes are very popular.

Martial Arts Classes

A variety of classes from Kendo-Japanese Swordsmanship to Karate are held off site as well as at the Kent Commons.

General Classes

From Gymnastics to Manners, babysitting and safety we offer a wide variety of classes for youth.
