The City of Kent's Land Survey/GIS department is a support team for other intercity departments.

The Land Survey section conducts topographic surveys and construction staking activities for the city's Capital Improvement projects, as well as boundary calculations and descriptions for all city owned properties. The Land Survey section also maintains a large Geodetic Control Network as part of our Monument Preservation Program.

The Public Works GIS section supports the mapping needs of our Engineering and Operations teams. These needs range from mapping utility data to building web-based map applications for use in the field. Public Works GIS is responsible for identifying and tracking where infrastructure and activities occur throughout the city.
