Using this online police report system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a draft copy of the police report. Please confirm the following to find out if online police report filing is right for you:
  • I am not reporting an emergency.
  • The incident I am reporting happened in the City of Kent, WA.
  • I don't know who did the crime, where to find the person, or the license plate number of the vehicle the person(s) was in who committed the crime.
  • The incident I am reporting did not happen on I-5 or Highway 167.
  • I am not reporting a stolen vehicle or stolen gun.

When to Call 9-1-1

Call 9-1-1 immediately if you are reporting the theft of a vehicle, the theft of a firearm (rifle, pistol, shotgun) or a burglary to your residence.

When to Call Our Non-Emergency Number

Call the non-emergency number (253-852-2121) if you are reporting an incident where you have information about the person(s) who committed the crime (name, where to find them, license plate number).

Completing the Report Process

Upon completion of this report process you will:

  • See the words: "Your online police report has been submitted" showing that your police report is complete.
  • Be given a temporary police report case number.
  • Be able to print a draft copy of the police report to keep for your records.

Using the Kent Police Department Police Online Reporting System you can report the following incidents (please choose one):

Filing Instructions for Fraud and Hit-and-Run

The online police reporting form is for use in situations in which no suspect information is present. (Examples: Your car was parked, and an unknown driver/vehicle hit your car and didn't leave a note; or a vehicle hit your car and then fled without stopping to exchange information or before you could get a license plate.)

If you are aware of the individual or have a license plate of the suspect's vehicle that caused damage to your vehicle, please contact 9-1-1. State that you have a non-emergency, and explain what happened. If you have sustained any type of injury, please contact 9-1-1 and do not use the online police reporting form.

Motor Vehicle Collision Report

The operator or owner of any vehicle involved in a collision within the state in which any person is injured, including oneself, or in which any person's property sustains damages in the amount of $1,000 or more is also required to complete a Motor Vehicle Collision Report.

Please fill out a Washington State Motor Vehicle Collision Report either by coming into the Kent Police Station lobby at 220 4th Ave S. or by submitting a WSP report online.

    • What do I do if online incident reporting is not right for me?

      If your incident is an emergency, call 911.

      If you would like to speak to an officer or are in need of a translator call (253) 852-2121. This phone number directs you to the 911 system which is also used to report non-emergency events.

    • What if this happened in another city? Can I file a report using this online police reporting system?

      No. If a crime took place outside of the City of Kent Police Department's jurisdiction, please call the police department for that city or use the online reporting links for nearby cities listed below.


    • What if this happened on I-5 or Highway 167?

      If this took place on I-5 or Highway 167, please contact the Washington State Patrol Office.

    • What is a known suspect?

      A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person, where to find the person, or the license plate number of the vehicle the person(s) was in who committed the crime.

    • How do I report an abandoned or illegally parked vehicle?

      Please call non-emergency dispatch at 253-852-2121 to report an abandoned or illegally parked vehicle.

      A vehicle is considered abandoned if it is parked on the roadway and unmoved for a period of time or is inoperable and incapable of moving. Abandoned vehicles will be tagged with an Abandoned Warning Notice. The owner is given a grace period to move the vehicle (typically 24-72 hours). Parking Enforcement action may occur if the vehicle has not been moved.
