    Jail Programs

The City of Kent Corrections Facility Programs Department offers a variety of jail alternatives for non-violent offenders.

    Inmate Court Appearances

Most individuals arrested and booked for misdemeanor charges or warrants in Kent Municipal Court will be scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. on the next business day following their arrest.  For more information, contact the Kent Municipal Court at 253-856-5730, Ext. 8.

Most court proceedings take place within the correctional facility.  The public is welcome to view misdemeanor court proceedings via closed circuit television located in the court rooms within the Kent Municipal Court.

    Posting Bail/Bond

    Bail

During normal business hours, take cash, cashier’s check, money order, or credit card to the Kent Municipal Court for processing.  The court will notify the jail that the bail has been posted.

After hours, bring a cashier’s check or money order to the Kent Jail.  The Jail cannot accept cash or credit cards.

    Bonds

Licensed bonding agencies authorized by the Kent Municipal Court should deliver bail bonds to the Kent Jail.  The bond must be delivered by the bondsman and have their ID and bonding card available to show jail staff

    Releases

Inmates released after completing a jail sentence will be released at midnight on their release date.  Inmates may request to be released the next morning, but early releases are prohibited.

Inmates released by the court or after posting bail will be released as soon as possible after the paperwork is received.  At peak times, this may take longer than expected.  The jail staff works efficiently, giving priority to release paperwork.  We thank you for your patience during this busy time of day.
