Kent Parks Scholarships

Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services is dedicated to enriching lives. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in recreation activities! A goal within our mission is to ensure that every pre-school child and school-age youth residing within the City of Kent or Kent School District has full access to a wide variety of recreational opportunities, regardless of family income or ability to pay. Our Financial Assistance & Scholarship help make our programs and activities more accessible to the community. Thus far, no eligible youth has been denied!

Scholarships are also available for Senior participants (age 50 and older) for the lunch program and fitness center. Senior assistance is designed to provide a reduced lunch program, free monthly fitness center pass, and one half-price fitness class each quarter to qualifying seniors. Senior applicants must reside within the City of Kent or within King County. Senior assistance is provided by King County Veterans, Seniors, Human Services Levy funds.

Eligibility is based on household income and the number of dependents living in the household. Eligibility is in alignment with the Federal Poverty Guidelines and related assistance programs.

Applications are available at the front desk of the Kent Commons Community Center or the Kent Senior Activity Center.

The Kent Parks Scholarship Program is made possible in large part through funding from Kent residents, the Kent Community Foundation, multiple community businesses and non-profits throughout our city, as well as foundational support provided by the City of Kent.
