Since 1997, the Kent Community Garden has yielded fresh produce and crops, created a sense of community and provided the benefits of physical activity for many hundreds of gardeners!

Reservations and Information

Program Details

  • REGISTRATION OPENS: Early registration opens February 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. for returning gardners in good standing.
    Public registration opens March 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. 
  • WHEN: April 6 - October 27, 2024
  • WHERE: 5th Avenue N and W James Street (behind ShoWare)
  • REQUIRED ANNUAL ORIENTATION: Monday, March 25, 2024 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Kent Commons   or April 1, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Kent Commons.
  • PLOT SIZE: Approximately 7.5' x 19' (400 sq. ft.)
  • PLOTS: Each gardner is limited to one (1) plot for the 2024 Community Gardening Season.  
  • COST:  $55 rental/water fee
    Note: Cost is subject to change without notice

    IN-PERSON at the Kent Commons (525 4th Avenue North)

  • ORGANIC GARDENING ONLY. Check your gardening products online with the Organic Materials Review Institute or in the Gardening Resources section below.   
  • Registration closes on August 15 each year.
  • Previous year's gardeners in good standing can register early for the same plot.
  • No garbage service. Pack out all trash.

First Deadline to Work Plots

Plots must be worked no later than 6 weeks from gardener's registration date.

  • Date: 05/15/2021  (all day)

Throughout the season, gardeners are allowed up to six (6) weeks from their registration date to prepare and begin working their plot before it is considered abandoned.

Abandoned plots will be offered to waitlisters and/or the public. No Refunds are given to gardeners who abandon plots.

Gardeners in violation will be notified directly to attend to their plot immediately. Gardeners are responsible for keeping their contact information up to date at KentWA.gov/Garden.

  • Plots left unworked after direct notification to the gardener will be considered abandoned and offered for re-rental.
  • No refunds are given for abandoned plots. Renters who abandon plots are excluded from the garden for the rest of the season.
