Historical Kent

The City of Kent lies on the traditional homelands of the Coast Salish peoples of the DuwamishMuckleshoot, and Puyallup Tribes. They have been here since time immemorial and continue to live and thrive here.

The Kent area was first permanently settled by European Americans in the 1850s along the banks of what was then the White River.

Originally an agricultural community, it has since developed into an industrial center. Learn more about the Greater Kent Historical Society.
