Google Translate

Google Translate is available to read our website in various languages. First,  click on the  "Translate" icon on the top left-hand corner of any page and select your language. Once language is selected, you will be able to navigate the entirety of our website in your preferred language.

Language assistance is available at no cost to you. 

The City of Kent acknowledges that language access is crucial for creating an equitable and well informed community. The city aims to provide meaningful access in it's programs, services, and activities to all residents, regardless of their English proficiency and communication disabilities.

The city works to provide translation of vital information in the top six languages whenever possible. Additionally, the city makes every effort to fulfill reasonable modification requests for translation of public-facing city documents or interpretation at city events. If you would like to request any of the services mentioned above, please submit a Language Access Request form located at the bottom of this page. 

The City of Kent approved it's first Language Access Plan August of 2023.

Kent's Top Languages Other Than English

We gathered data from the Census Bureau,  American Community Survey (ACS), and the Kent School District to determine community languages. Based on the data, we suggest the following languages as Kent's top tier languages for communicating city-wide programs and services. These languages are broken into three tiers. 

The languages are listed from most common to least common in the City of Kent Boundaries.

Tier 1 - Should include: *Spanish

Tier 2If feasible, include: *Punjabi, *Ukrainian, *Vietnamese, *Chinese, *Tagalog 

Tier 3 (Emerging languages) Consider including:  Dari, Somali, 

(*)Indicates language that meets the safe harbor threshold.
