Women in Aerospace: Melitta von Stauffenberg

Learn about the life and achievements of Melitta von Stauffenberg, the first graduated female aerospace engineer and test pilot of World War II era Germany.

Her career helped pave the way for women in the future of aerospace. While she set records with her test flights, she also used her influence and connections to help her family after her brother-in-law's unsuccessful assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler in July of 1944.

Having grown up in Germany himself, presenter Dr. Dieter M. Zube works as a senior staff engineer on spacecraft propulsion systems and volunteers as a museum docent and member of the Speakers Bureau at the Seattle Museum of Flight since 1997.
