Bicycling and Walking
The City of Kent has numerous bicycle and pedestrian facilities that connect to popular destinations, including the Green River Trail and the Interurban Trail. These trails are available for all non-motorized transportation modes and provide excellent urban connectivity in addition to beautiful scenery.
Green River Trail Closure
In an effort to help prevent flooding in the Green River Valley, the City of Kent placed 20,000 giant sandbags along the Green River levee last fall. To maintain the stability of the levees, giant sandbags were placed in the center of trail, requiring the Green River Trail, which runs along the top of the nearly 12 miles of levees through Kent, to be closed to bicyclists. The trail is open to foot traffic only. Trail users should watch for orange “trail closure” signs at major access points. The bags will remain in place, as they are placed now, thru the next flood season.

Frager Road between S. 200th Street and Washington Avenue/West Valley Highway can be used as an alternate route, while the Interurban Trail between the north and south City limits will also serve north-south bicyclists and pedestrians. East-west access roads will include S. 200th/196th, S. 212th Street, James and Meeker Streets.
