The City of Kent Corrections Facility (CKCF) offers a variety of jail alternatives for non-violent offenders. Upon the recommendation of the sentencing court you may be eligible to apply for alternative housing options such as Electronic Home Detention and/or Work Release. 

 

The City of Kent Corrections Facility offers the following inmate programs:

  • Out of Custody Work Crew
  • Supervised Work Crew
  • Unsupervised Work Crew
  • Electronic Home Detention
  • Work Release
  • OSA Work Release

Application must be picked up in person with a copy of your sentencing paperwork as well as application fee to CKCF Programs staff.

 A 2-week payment is collected on the first day of the sentence. Weekly payments are collected each week until paid in full.  

       

Electronic Home Detention  :

The program utilizes GPS and Breath testing equipment in the home to track offenders.  You must have an operational land line phone with 1-800 or long distance calling capabilities.  The phone must be free of options such as three way calling, call waiting, or call forwarding.  All electronics such as computers, fax, or answering machines cannot be used in conjunction with the phone.  No digital phone service or wireless equipment (computers, games and controller).

 

You may work, attend school or be on total home confinement.  Some employment may not qualify (no private residences or self-employed).  You must live and work in King County or North Pierce County to be eligible.

 

Usage of breath testing equipment and GPS monitoring equipment to be paid by the offender, unless indigent, in which the offender will perform community service work up to 40 hours per week with the City of Kent Corrections Facility in lieu of payment. Outside agency commitments are not eligible for community service option.

 

Work Release:

The program allows an offender to continue his/her employment outside of the facility.  Some employment may be a disqualifier (no private residences or self-employed). 

Housing is dormitory style area located within the jail, in which offenders provide their own clothing and transportation.

 

Work Crew:

Program is available to City of Kent offenders who are not currently employed and within 6 months of release. 

 

City of Kent Work Crew offenders will be housed in a dormitory style area of the jail.  Work Crew offenders with sentences of 9 days or less may report daily and be released at the end of the work day.

 

Offenders are assigned to job location by Programs Staff and participate in projects such as lawn maintenance, beautification of the city, janitorial and other physical labor skills.

Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. 

 

Eligibility:

Participation in any program is conditional upon offender’s acceptance in programs.  You may apply in-custody in the City of Kent Jail or out of custody.  Sentencing Court must authorize / recommend programs.  Obtain applications in person. 

 

Outside Agency Commitments court paperwork must specify that time can be served in the City of Kent Corrections Facility.  All Outside Agency Commitments must pay $40.00 application fee and $40.00 daily fees to participate on a program.

   

Disqualifiers include but are not limited to:  conviction of Class A felonies as an adult, lengthy criminal history to include multiple DUI and/or Domestic Violence related convictions, recent drug use, registered sex offenders status, or any assault in which the victim resides in the same residence. 

 

Good time is available for all programs if rules compliant and authorized by the court.  Additional work credit days can be earned through the Work Crew program.
