Three Kent Companies were recognized for their outstanding Commute Trip Reduction Programs at the 20th Annual King County Diamond Awards Celebration. Diamond Awards celebrate employers and individuals who excel at encouraging their employees to choose more efficient and sustainable commute options. These innovative and comprehensive commute programs help improve the performance of our transportation system, improve regional air quality, and help employees save money and reduce stress from daily commuting.
BECU, Hytek Finishes and Alaska Airlines were honored at an awards luncheon on October 16th at the SeaTac Airport Hilton. The Keynote Speaker and awards presenter was King County Executive Dow Constantine. These three Kent employers were among a total of 18 businesses that were honored this year. They were chosen from a pool of over 500 employers throughout the county who have Commute Trip Reduction Programs in place to encourage their employees to reduce their drive-alone commutes by choosing the bus, train, walking, bicycling, working a compressed work schedule or working from home.
