State law provides that all correspondence sent to elected officials (including email) is public record. Any correspondence sent to the City Council will be disclosed to any person who requests it, unless exempt from disclosure under state law. 

 

Les Thomas, a fourth generation and longime Kent resident is serving his third term.  He is chair of the Operations committee and is a member of the Public Safety committee.  Les is also member of the Regional Fire Authority and Firemen's Pension Boards.  He previously served as member of the King County Council and as a legislator in the Washington State House of Representatives.

 

Les has strong history of commuity involvement.  He is Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Kent, and has been a member of the Kent Scenic Hill PTA, Kent Retail Trade Committee and Kent Merchants Association.  He co-authored the by-laws for the Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) and served on the inaugural Board of Directors as its first secretary. Les also served as vice chairman of the Kent Library Board, served two terms on the Kent Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as well as two terms on the Board of Directors for the KDP. He chairs the Operations Committe and serves as a member on Public Safety Committee.

 

Les and his wife Pauline have four children; all are graduates of Kent-Meridian High School. Les holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He and Pauline owned “Blessing’s Jewelers” in downtown Kent until they sold the store in 1992.
