Patrol Unit

This is the most visible section in the police and what is thought of when we think of a Police Department.

Organizational Structure

  • Patrol Shifts
    • Patrol officers are assigned to one of 6 shifts:   
      • Day 0600-1600 
      • Early Power 0800-1800 
      • Early Swing 1030-2030 
      • Late Swing 1500-0100 
      • Late Power 1800-0400 
      • Graveyard 2000-0600
  • Bicycle Unit
  • Hostage Negotiators
  • K9 Unit
  • Marine Unit
  • School Resource Officer (Kent School District)
    • Provides police services in the schools.
    • Works with a King County Sheriff's Deputy.
    • Supervises and trains the school security staff.
  • SWAT
  • Traffic Unit (includes Parking Enforcement)
    • Enforce traffic laws to reduce the number of traffic collisions in our city.
    • Investigate traffic crashes on public roads and when injuries are involved
