The LEPC is used to carry out tasks that will develop and maintain effective relationships with government, private, and voluntary sectors of the community. The objectives of the relationships are to facilitate mutual consultation, exchange information, and provide agreements for cooperative action. Another purpose of the LEPC is to coordinate hazardous material issues and carry out the mandate of EPCRA.
Members of the LEPC
Each local committee shall include, but not be limited to, or subjected to, representation from each of the following groups or organizations:
- Local and State Officials
- Local Elected Officials
- Emergency Management
- Fire/Emergency Medical Services
- Law Enforcement
- Healthcare Professionals
- Environmental Officials
- Hospitals
- Transportation
- Media
- Community Groups
- Owners/Operators of Facilities subject to the requirements of EPCRA

Annual Tier II Reporting
The Kent Local Emergency Planning (LEPC) would like to remind your facility to complete the Tier II Emergency Hazardous Chemical Inventory (PDF 60KB) report. In accordance with the Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA) and SARA Title III, Section 312, you are required to send separate reports with an original signature by March 1, 2013 to the following:

You must report the required information on the Tier Two form for each hazardous substance or product at your facility in quantities equal to or greater than established threshold amounts, unlEmeress the chemicals are excluded under Section 311(e) of Title III (see below). Hazardous chemicals are any substances for which your facility must maintain an MSDS under OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard. Please refer to the EPA’s Consolidated List of Lists (PDF 804KB) for more information on reportable thresholds. All Extremely Hazardous Substances (EHS) are included in the List of Lists. However, not all reportable chemicals are listed. The reporting threshold for products or substances that are not listed in the Consolidated List of Lists is 10,000 pounds at any one time.
