Jeff Piecewicz appointed to ShoWare Center Public Facilities District Board
KENT, Wash. – July 19, 2013 – At its July 16 meeting, the Kent City Council appointed Jeff Piecewicz to the ShoWare Center Public Facilities District (PFD) Board of Directors.
Of the 13 applications received, city council members were invited to submit their top five candidates and rank them in order of preference. Piecewicz received the highest score.
The PFD was created in 2007 by the Kent City council as a municipal corporation with independent taxing authority. Formed specifically for events or sports facilities, the PFD collects a share of the state’s sales tax revenue already paid and transfers those funds to the city to pay debt service on ShoWare Center’s construction bonds.
The primary role of the seven-member board is to ensure the funding generated by the sales tax credit is used only for debt service.
Piecewicz is a manufacturing and production specialist with the Defense Contract Management Agency, supporting the Department of Defense.
A 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Piecewicz held numerous positions including Financial Resource Manager where he managed diverse team projects with multi-million dollar budgets.
“Jeff brings extensive experience in project and finance resource management to this group,” said Council President Dennis Higgins. “I’m confident he will be a strong addition to the board and will do great work to help oversee ShoWare Center’s financial obligations.”
Piecewicz joins Mike Miller, chair; Lew Sellers, vice chair; Randall Smith and Cass Prindle as board members. City of Kent finance director, Robert Nachlinger serves as treasurer, while city clerk Ronald F. Moore serves as secretary
Because Position 1 has been vacant since September 2, 2012, Piecewicz will complete the remainder of the four-year term ending September 1, 2016.
