The seven-member City Council is the legislative forum for the City of Kent. The Council is responsible for approving financial expenditures and adopting the city budget as well as establishing policies and regulations in order to guide Kent’s future.
Elected by the citizens of Kent, members of the Council are dedicated to protecting the interests of their constituents. Each is elected to four-year terms which are staggered, with elections held every odd-numbered year. Members are non-partisan (they do not represent political parties) and are elected at-large (they do not represent a specific geographical area). All receive a monthly salary, plus reimbursement for any expenses.
Vision for 2025
At their annual planning retreat, the Council developed a vision statement for the city looking out to 2025. View the booklet below for details.
