KDP Spending Competition

Kent Downtown Partnership celebrates Independent Retailer Month by hosting a month-long spending competition. Entry forms will be available starting July 1st. Participants will spend money at 18 of any of Kent’s qualifying independently-owned stores in downtown Kent during the month of July, recording their receipt totals, plus any bonuses. Grand prize goes to the person who has spent the most and will include a $250 Visa gift card. There will also be drawings for all completed entry forms for additional prizes. In honor of the City of Kent's 125th Anniversary the City of Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services is hosting a Tournament of Champions Softball Tournament.
The top team from each of our Adult Softball Divisions and 2 at large bids will battle it out to be the winner of the tournament of champions.

Games will be played on Tuesday, July 7th to Thursday, July 9th at Hogan Park at Russell Road.

CANCELLED - Independent Salary Commission Regluar Meeting

The Commission is tasked with the review and establishment of the mayor and  councilmember’s salaries.

 

Under state law, the city council currently sets the salaries of  the mayor and councilmembers.

 

Revised Code of Washington (RCW) section 35.21.015 authorizes a  city to establish a salary commission to review and adjust elected official salaries and provides that  commission action supersedes any other state statute, provision, or city  ordinance related to either municipal budgets or to the fixing of salaries.

  

If the commission elects to include a conservative, fixed inflation factor to address future inflationary trends as part of its salary decision, the city council will authorize the commission to be disbanded —but  not the salaries established by the commission.

  

If the commission elects not to include a conservative, fixed inflation factor to address future inflationary trends, then the commission will  continue to operate, holding at least annual commission meetings.
