Kent's community garden P-patch registration begins for returning gardeners February 25 and ends March 10. New gardeners may register beginning March 11 by contacting the Kent Commons (253-856-5000). There are 44 plots, each approximately 20' x 20'. The garden opens April 1 and closes Oct. 25. The rental fee is $45 for the season plus a $25 refundable deposit. Questions: 253-856-5113.

When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Where can you find the greatest variety of birds? Surprisingly, John Marzluff discovered the greatest diversity can actually be found…in our own backyards. Why have suburban areas become such a haven? And what does it mean for us? Join Professor Marzluff for a discussion of his intriguing new book that has been featured on NPR.

 

John Marzluff, Ph.D., is Professor of Wildlife Science at the University of Washington. His research has been the focus of articles in the New York Times, National Geographic, Audubon, Boys Life, The Seattle Times, and National Wildlife. PBS’s NATURE featured his raven research in its production, "Ravens," and his crow research in the film documentary, "A Murder of Crows."

 Books will be available for purchase by University Bookstore.
