   Annual “ReLeaf” Event Focuses on Clark Lake Park

September 22, 2014 – A portion of Clark Lake Park’s 130 acres will receive some volunteer attention on Saturday, October 11 at the annual “ReLeaf” event from 9 a.m. until noon, rain or shine.  Volunteers are asked to park at the East Hill Maintenance Shops, 12607 SE 248th St., and shuttle vans will take them to the site.  ...    National Public Lands Day is September 27 at Lake Fenwick Park

September 8, 2014 – Volunteers will enjoy great views of Lake Fenwick Park and the entire Kent Valley as they prune the park’s popular east ridge trail on National Public Lands Day. The annual event, now in its eighth year in Kent, will be held Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. until noon, rain or shine. Lake Fenwick Park is located at 25828 Lake Fenwick Road on the city’s West Hill.  ... (more)

   Kent receives grant funding for fitness equipment to combat childhood obesity

September 5, 2014 – The City of Kent, along with King County Parks and six other south county cities, have teamed up to add outdoor fitness equipment for youth and teens and their families to encourage healthy living and exercise as part of the “I” CANN healthy living initiative to combat childhood obesity....    Volunteers to install new playground at Green Tree Park

September 2, 2014 – Green Tree Park will undergo a huge transformation on September 20, when neighbors, other volunteers and staff come together to install a new playground, walking trail and other amenities. Over 150 volunteers will be on site from 8 a.m. until the ribbon-cutting at 2:30 by Mayor Cooke. Refreshments, including lunch, will be provided courtesy of Starbucks, Fred Meyer and Papa John’s....    Wilson Playfields' re-opening celebration to feature Seattle Impact FC

August 11, 2014 – Wilson Playfields’ new multi-use turf fields are finally ready for play, and the public is invited to celebrate the official re-opening at a dedication on Saturday, September 6, at 10 a.m. Coinciding with the annual Youth Soccer Jamboree, attendees will be able to meet and get autographs from star players from the Seattle Impact, FC, Kent's newest professional soccer team....
