Kent's comprehensive plan represents a vision for the future and provides policy direction for land use, zoning, and public improvements. The city is required to perform the next complete review and appropriate revisions to the plan by June 30, 2015. However, the public can suggest amendments to the comprehensive plan on an annual basis through what is called the 'docketing' process.
Comprehensive Plan and EIS Update
A series of comprehensive plan amendments have been adopted since 2004. Some of these updates have been incorporated into the comprehensive plan's text, while more recent amendments are incorporated by reference. A recent environmental impact statement (EIS) analyzed alternative growth strategies for the Kent Planning Area, with focused growth in Downtown, the Midway Subarea, and five potential activity centers.
